Soulflower, a poem

SOULFLOWER
By Bay Sweetwater

My soul is the burst of joy
that blooms in me
when out the curtained kitchen window
I see the pink morning glory
blooming on the lattice
next to the scruffy old cat
the color of evening,
lazing on the porch railing
in the strong mid-morning sun.

The soulflower loves the sun
and turns toward it,
every petal yearning for its touch,
but a soulflower can bloom in shadow,
and yes, even in darkness too,
for its sun is not in the sky
but deep in the heart
where inextinguishable joy prevails.

Naughty fae night

Naughty fae night tonight at the Farhaven Skyhigh Dance Club. Woot Woot! Lots of skimpily clad fae and gorgeous summer attire, or lack thereof!

What’s wrong with this picture?

For anyone coming to the Second Life convention this year, a word of warning:

The Golden Gate Bridge does not run between Oakland and San Francisco. ROFL.

(This is the replica at SL8B — perhaps it’s the poetic license of the virtual world?)

It’s Easter! Let the nibbling begin

Setting up work e-mail on my iPod Touch using Microsoft Exchange

Here’s how to get over a big hurdle you’ll probably meet if you try to set up your work e-mail on your iPod Touch.
Many companies do not support SSL and so you have to turn it off on your Ipod Touch (or iPhone) when you set up a Microsoft Exchange account. Despite feverish attempts, I could never find the on-off button for SSL.
Here’s the solution: Go ahead and save the account once you set it up, even if you get an error message saying Exchange cannot verify the account.
Once saved, it will then appear in your list of e-mail accounts. Then you can open up settings for your new account, and voila, there will be the on-off toggle for SSL. Turn it Off. Then your e-mail account will work.

Prim hogs, rejoice! “Multiple Attachments” lives

In case any of you other prim hogs like me out there are lamenting the loss of “multiple attachments” in the latest release of the standard SL viewer 2.4, rejoice! It’s not really gone. There is a feature called “add” in the right-click menu which you must use instead of “wear” when wearing more than one attachment at a point.

In this way, you can:

  • Use “wear” when you want the usual automatic detachment of the previous prim worn on that point
  • Use “add” if you want to have two prims at one point.
  • The only problem is that avies using some other viewers, in particular the old SL 1.23 viewer, will only see the *last* attachment you attached in a multiple attachment.

Hat tip to Hitomi Tiponi who answered this question for me today in the Second Life Technology Blog.

A fresh winter snow in early morning . . .

Ooh, my new little cabin is soooo-o-o beautiful in the early morning winter sun. And wouldn’t you know it, I just got a notice that SPRING is coming to the Elven Lands next weekend! As in flowers and blue skies and . . . no snow!!!

Just when my little cabin is finally all cozy for winter AND . . . I’ve installed my brand new “Bay” window just waiting for me to curl up in with a good book.

Rudolph waves goodbye

The holidays are over!  Sniff-Sniff. Rudolf waves goodbye, for another year.

A time to rejoice in the good that we see . . . a Christmas video

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you all.

May all your dreams come true in the coming year, in all your lives, and in all your worlds.

Love and peace to you, Bay Sweetwater.
