Strawberry Singh recently proposed an intriguing Seven Facts Meme, in which Second Life bloggers reveal seven little-known facts about themselves. Here are mine.
SL Fact #1. If I’m in a sticky or confusing situation IRL, I often find myself asking: What would Bay do? Or I’ll log into SL and ask Bay herself. She usually has good ideas. I think of her as my moral compass.
SL Fact #2. I do most of my RL writing in SL, sitting at my virtual desk in my vitual writing studio in my virtual house. I also have a wearable desk for when I want to write in a virtual woods, or the bottom of the sea, or Inspire Space Park, one of my favorite places. I hardly ever write in RL locales. My inspiration seems to come from SL. I am prouder of being the Poet Laureate of the Elf Circle than of almost anything I’ve accomplished IRL.
SL Fact #3. I first got involved in SL as an observer in a Harvard Law School class on cyberlaw. The first time another avatar said something to me in SL, I panicked. “Oh, no!” I said to the person who was showing me around. “What do I do now?” When she offered me “wardrobe,” I ran away.
SL Fact #4. I love shadows more than almost anything in SL. Except maybe eyes. I have 23 pairs!
SL Fact #5. Bay is very proud of the time she was photographed with Philip Linden hanging out at the Amazon job fair.
SL Fact #6. I love SL names – the weirder the better. I named the alt who helps me out in machinima Rosemary Trashcan. Bay, on the other hand, is much more laid back and prefers a mellow name like Bay Sweetwater.
SL Fact #7. I have a phobia about those SL shoe bases that squash your feet into such grotesque shapes. I rarely wear high-heeled shoes or boots because of them.
